I haven’t been very diligent about keeping everyone updated for the last little bit. Still owe a Beijing recap + some other stuff from HK + an excerpt from my big econ paper for UCLA. Had my “Economic Development of Rural China” fieldtrip last week to Guangxi province. Will be posting pictures from there for the next bit.
Spent some time fishing one evening. We were visiting the estate of a former school headmaster.
Aside: being a headmaster can be very lucrative, as Chinese families will go to great lengths to get their children placed into the best schools.
He is mid-way through developing the land (with the help of the government) into a spa/fishing/b&b destination.
I caught two medium sized fish that were quickly gutted and thrown into the hot pot dishes inside.
